About our Publication
Forensic Science Executive is a semi-annual professional publication that is released every winter and summer, with production and distribution scheduled for the months of February and August. Published in both print and digital formats, Forensic Science Executive is distributed, for free, to over 120 accredited forensic science laboratories in the United States.
History The first release of Forensic Science Executive occurred in August of 2018 shortly after its founder and managing editor, John Collins, agreed to a book contract to publish an anthology of Crime Lab Report, a popular and highly-respected source of news and commentary on issues affecting forensic science. Crime Lab Report was a highly provocative voice emanating from a profession that was not used to tackling controversial issues with such boldness. But with changing times came new opportunities and priorities. Crime Lab Report retired quietly in the fall of 2017, after an illustrious and influential tenure. Collins began discussions with Elsevier (Academic Press) to memorialize Crime Lab Report in a comprehensive anthology schedule for publication in 2019. Interested in continuing his work as a writer and publisher serving the forensic science community, Collins assembled a team of writers with the experience and knowledge to cover a wide variety of topics relevant to forensic science. Unlike Crime Lab Report, Forensic Science Executive would focus on the internal administration and management of forensic science laboratories, providing insight and information specifically intended for those with decision-making authority in forensic science. |
